Healthy eating for Haiti

Healthy eating for Haiti
Students from the Introductory Diploma in Vocational Studies [Childcare] course recently prepared a ‘Healthy Eating’ buffet for their tutors to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

With the help of Healthy Lifestyles tutor Rose Williams and Literacy and Numeracy tutor Alison Lewis, the students worked in teams to plan the menu, source ingredients, manage the budget and prepare the individual dishes.

They also designed the invites and decorated their classroom especially for the occasion.

On the menu were delicious smoothies, pasta, low fat sandwiches, prawn salad, cheese kebabs, fruit salad, yogurt, fresh fruit and juices.

“The buffet was a great success,” says Rose. “We really enjoyed the delicious food which the students worked so hard to prepare and raising over £40 for the Haiti appeal was an added bonus.”
