Performing Arts BTEC National Diploma (Level 3)
Course Content
This is a broad-based performance course which includes classes in dance, drama, singing and devising. Students will build skills in all the areas and apply them to a wide range and styles of performance.
Study units include:
- Dance/Movement/Physical Theatre;
- Theatre Acting;
- TV and Film Acting;
- Singing - Solo and Choral;
- Participation in all performances and visits.
This course is equivalent to 120-360 UCAS points.
Teaching/Assessment
This is a vocational course which requires team work and commitment. All students take part in work experience programmes and participate in a wide range of performances and visits. Past productions include Cabaret, West Side Story, Lysistrata, Metamorphosis and Love of the Nightingale.
There are no examinations on this course, qualification is gained through continual assessment.
Entry Requirements
Students will require 4 GCSE's at Grade C or above, a GNVQ Intermediate at Merit or Diploma.
Experience in drama, dance or singing are an advantage.
Students will need energy and commitment, imagination, creativity, reliability and self-discipline.
Progression
The course can develop career prospects within the performing arts industry and also progression to Higher Education (HND or degree courses).
Additional Information
Students will be required to pay for the costs of theatre trips and visits. Appropriate clothing for dance is required.
