Photo opportunities for students

An ex-Swansea College student turned professional freelance photographer recently returned to campus.

James Davies, whose clients include the Western Mail, The Sun and The Daily Mirror, chatted to photography students about his career and – before he left – took a picture of them which has since appeared in the Western Mail’s weekend magazine supplement.

James completed his A Levels at the college in the early 1990’s before gaining work as a junior photographer for the Ammanford Guardian. His career has since taken him around the world.

“It was great to welcome James back to Llwyn y Bryn and to introduce him to our current students,” says lecturer Roger Tiley. “His specialism is sports photography and he has accompanied the Welsh rugby team to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Argentina, making memorable sports images which have been published worldwide.”
