Modern Apprenticeships

We have apprenticeship programmes available in the following sectors:

Accountancy; Childcare; Digital Technology [Electronics]; Electrical Engineering; Electrical Installation; Hairdressing; Mechanical Engineering; Motor Vehicle; Plumbing; Welding and Fabrication.

We offer three different Apprenticeship programmes:

Foundation Apprenticeship [Level 2 qualification]
This is a Level 2 qualification which provides apprentices with the underpinning theory and practical knowledge of their chosen trade. In most routes it consists of an NVQ, Key Skills and other relevant qualifications such as a technical certificate or BTEC.

The programme usually lasts between 18 months and two years.

Apprentices can be employed or be on a trainee placement with employers [i.e. non employed. ] The training allowance is a minimum of £50 per week for the first year of training. The minimum wage should be applied in the second year of training.

Apprenticeship [Level 3 qualification]

This is a Level 3 qualification which provides apprentices with most of the theory and practical knowledge required to become fully qualified. In most routes it consists of an NVQ, Key Skills and other relevant qualifications such as a technical certificate, BTEC or AM2.

Apprentices must be employed by the company whilst on this programme. The Advanced Apprenticeship has a two year window for completion.

MSD [Modern Skills Diploma] for adults over the age of 16
The Modern Skills Diploma provides opportunities for adults over the age of 16, and already employed by the company, to obtain training qualifications. They must be competent to study at NVQ Level 4 and must be in a job which allows the candidate to achieve a Level 4 qualification.

We currently offer the MSDA programme in Accountancy.
