The main campus at Tycoch is a bustling and vibrant base for students on a wide variety of courses including Travel and Tourism, Business and Law, Maths and Science, Sport and Leisure, Motor Vehicle, Engineering, Electronics, English and Languages.
Tycoch is also home to many of our ‘Grade One’ areas such as Health and Social Care, Hairdressing, Beauty and Holistic Therapy, Hospitality and Catering and Supported Studies.
Students at Tycoch follow programmes at ‘A’ and ‘AS’ level, BTEC, NVQ and City and Guilds as well as a variety of Access courses and Modern Apprenticeships.
As a direct result of student feedback, the common room area at Tycoch has recently been expanded and improved to include information points, email access points, more seating areas and more choice of refreshments.
Other excellent facilities at Tycoch include:
- A multimedia Learning Zone
- The Swansea College Sports Centre
- The Broadway Centre
- A variety of refreshment areas for sit-down meals or takeaway snacks.
Well established as a Centre of Excellence, Broadway offers students a thorough grounding in all aspects of Health, Beauty and Holistic Therapies.
The ‘Grade One’ Beauty and Holistic Therapy programme delivers a range of courses - including Vocational Access, NVQ and Diploma levels - in a modern, professional environment with a strong commercial focus.
The Hairdressing programme is also a ‘Grade One’ area and combines studying with educational trips to trade exhibitions and shows. From a simple cut and blow dry to perms, highlights and hairstyles for special occasions, students learn a range of techniques and offer a varied menu of services to their customers.
On the Beauty front, students can learn all about facials, corrective body treatments, make-up, manicures and pedicures.
The Holistic programme covers aromatherapy and reflexology, stone and stone therapies, sports massage and the ancient Indian art of ‘Ayurvedic’ treatment.
The Broadway Centre is situated at the top end of the main Tycoch campus and offers a range of competitively priced services to college staff, students and members of the public alike.
The campus is within walking distance of Sketty. Transport links to and from the city centre are excellent. There is a bus stop directly outside the campus with a service running into Swansea approximately every 20 minutes [this service also passes our Llwyn y Bryn campus for those students who have courses at both venues.]
